Pilots Fly Patients to Long-Distance Medical Treatments - Bismarck,ND
Retired Director Larry Gabriel received the coveted NAA (National Aeronautic Association) Distinguished Volunteer Award this past fall in Washington DC. The awards were created in 2003 to honor volunteer pilots, individuals, groups and organizations engaged in flying to help others. Larry was accompanied by Lifeline Pilot's founder Wanda Whitsitt and Executive Director Keith Laken. Congratulations Larry!
Other Lifeline Pilot's recipients have been Wanda Whitsitt, and the mission coordinators for their significant work facilitating over 160 flights after Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans.
Lifeline Pilots actively supports the AirCare Alliance (ACA) and the National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses (NAHHH)
The ACA is a listing resource where people can find volunteer pilot organizations for flights, piloting opportunities or education. Our involvement with ACA is to aid in developing strong relationships with similar organizations to better ensure that transportation between the organizations occurs seamlessly in the eyes of the passengers.
The member homes of the NAHHH do for housing what Lifeline Pilot’s do for transportation. Often the same patients that we assist use NAHHH member houses during their stay for medical treatment.
Keith Laken serves on the Board of both organizations.
